Last updated 2026. Physiognomia processes photographs of faces, so this page is written to be short and plain.
What happens to your photo
When you take a selfie or upload a portrait, the image is cropped and resized in your browser and then sent to our reading service, which passes it to an AI vision model to produce the written reading.
The photo is not stored by Physiognomia unless you choose to save the reading to your archive or create a shareable plate. If you do neither, the image exists only for the seconds it takes to generate the reading.
What we store, and only if you ask
Saved readings. If you sign in and press “Save to history”, we store the reading text, your label, and the cropped portrait in your private archive. Only your account can read it.
Shared plates. If you create a share link, the reading text and the generated plate image are stored so the link can be opened by anyone who has it. Do not create a share link for a photo you do not have permission to share.
Feedback. If you send feedback, we keep your message and, if you provide one, your email address so we can reply.
Account data
Signing in is handled by our authentication provider using Google or Apple. We receive your email address and a user identifier. We never see your password.
Usage measurement
We record anonymous product events — for example “a photo was analysed” or “a plate was shared” — with the page and device type. These events contain no photos, no reading text, no names, and no advertising identifiers.
Face data and biometrics
Physiognomia does not build a face template, does not attempt to identify anyone, and does not match faces against any database. The image is used once to generate a subjective written impression and is then discarded.
Children
Physiognomia is not intended for anyone under 16, and you should not upload a photo of a child.
Deleting your data
You can delete any saved reading from your archive at any time; deleting it removes the stored portrait too. To delete your account and everything attached to it, or to remove a share link, use the feedback form and we will action it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or erase your data, and to object to processing. Contact us through the feedback form to exercise any of these.
